In the middle of the boreal forest, Syssoï perpetuates the tradition of Byzantine religious singing, which he teaches to his thirteen-year-old son Ivan. With Elena, his wife, they live a peaceful existence, in seclusion, on the edge of the siberian permafrost zone.
The voices of the father and son unite in the silence of the majestic taiga, where time seems to have stopped long ago; those are the voices of the old believers, inhabited by a strong spirituality, and determined to preserve their way of life in Eastern Siberia.
